Marketing Committee Update:
Advertising & promotional opportunities - the real MDVMBA membership benefit!
A general monthly marketing campaign was successfully developed for 2010
using in kind sponsorship negotiated with the Daily Commercial, Orlando
Sentinel, COX Radio(WMMO, K92FM, AM580 & WDBO) and internet promotion through
WTDI, LLC ( www.WhatToDoInMtDora.com).
We will also be continuing a month to month contract with FOX TV. All
advertising in 2010 will have unique URLs for tracking placement
effectiveness. The monthly spots will be used to promote our MDVMBA member specials as
well as our MDVMBA owned events and other community events and efforts that
benefit downtown Mount Dora.
In Jan:
MDVMBA signed on as a Maestro level sponsor for the 13th annual Mount Dora Music Festival Feb
18-21. The Music Festival will receive advertising & promotional support valued at $5000. The MDVMBA will
receive logo placement on all cross promotional ads. We also received 6 VIP
tickets. The tickets were given away in a drawing at our Jan general membership
meeting.
$100 Dora Dollars were given away (congratulations to new member & winner Donna Swain from Essential Therapies) at a drawing at our General membership
meeting to be used at downtown Mount Dora merchant establishments. Visit www.MtDora.org for a powerpoint presentaion
explaining the Dora dollars and how they work .
A $500 Dora Dollars winner was chosen at our general membership
meeting from over 7000 entries from our Getaway Sweepstakes campaign to accrue
email addresses for future Mount Dora promotion.
The 350project.net campaign to suport local shopping was presented by Linda Bissonette and
will be considered this spring.
Please contact me directly with any questions or suggestions for promoting
our MDVMBA members.
Thank you, Janet Craig MDVMBA Marketing

Events Committee Update:
The 14th annual Spring Collectibles & Crafts Show (formerly the Antique & Trades Fair) is just around the corner. The weekend of March 27 & 28 will feature the new show layout with nearly 200 antique dealer, crafter & artist booths. This is twice as many as last years show.

Cox Events Group, Orlando Sentinel and Bogin, Munns & Munns are the major sponsors of this event allowing us to promote it on a level that was impossible before now. This show will receive the broadest coverage ever including the first ever newspaper insert going out to over 55,000 households the Sunday prior to the event.
We are calling for volunteers to assist with logistics prior to and during the event. Please contact the events committee to find out more.

Treasurer's Report:
We have a strong cash flow with cash balances totaling up to
$116,000.00. I believe that the ability to process credit cards and
depositing the checks on a timely basis are major contributors to the improvement
of our cash flow. This is key to our association's ability to
operate on a day to day basis, our marketing committee to promote our downtown
merchants and our event committee to launch all our events.
In the meantime, my goal is to get last year's financial
statements finalized in the next few weeks so we can file our corporate income
tax. Once done, I will be more than happy to provide these reports either
at the next general membership meeting or via newsletter.
May you have a wonderful & prosperous month!

From the President:
2010 is shaping up to be a busy year for our Association. In addition to preparing for the upcoming 14th Annual Spring Collectibles & Crafts Show we are major sponsors of this years 13th Annual Mount Dora Music Festival and the 1st Annual Classic Car Festival in March.
It is our desire to continue to forge relationships with other groups and events in town that share a common goal of promoting Mount Dora. Our expanding partnership with Cox Events Group has given us tremendous resources with which to advertise and promote on a scale that is unprecedented by comparison to previous years. We have a team of people dedicated to putting those resources to work in the best way possible.
Thank you to all of the membership for your continued support as we continue to move the Association forward.

This weekend features the 35th annual rendition of the super successful Mount Dora Arts Festival. Our hats off to our friends at the Mount Dora Center for the Arts for putting on the premier event in Mount Dora!

Many of our Merchant Association members will be on the streets side by side with the Center for the Arts volunteers doing our part to make the show as smooth as possible. This is the least we can do considering the fabulous assistance rendered by the Center for the Arts in the tremendous success of our Fall Craft Festival!
