Marketing Committee Update:
Advertising opportunities - the real MDVMBA membership benefit!
In December the Marketing
Committee advertised for Christmas Walk, the 2010 City New Year's Eve party, MDVMBA merchant
member holiday events and a late night shopping weekend on December 18th & 19th with participating
MDVMBA members promoted.
Venues included the Daily Commercial, Orlando
Sentinel, Village Sun, Triangle Sun, Focus magazine, FOX TV, COX radio ,
LakefrontTV and internet. We also promoted via posters and banners.
We are looking for input for appropriate
places to advertise for dealers &crafters for our Spring Craft & Collectibles Show.
Any suggestions would be appreciated. Please email Janet Craig at: JanetCraigsells@comcast.net
We are also looking into launching a campaign to
promote local shopping. Thanks to Lisa at Home and Garden Treasures for the
idea. Please visit: www.the350project.net to get a
glimpse.
Thank you, Janet Craig MDVMBA Marketing

Events Committee Update:
The next MDVMBA sponsored event will be the Spring Crafts & Collectibles Show, (formerly the Antiques & Trades Fair). The
event has been renamed and expanded to nearly 200 booths to allow for
more collectors and the addition of crafters to the lineup of
participants.

This year's event will take place over the weekend of March 26th &
27th in conjunction with the Antique Boat Show in Tavares and the City
of Mount Dora official centennial birthday party.

Treasurer's Report:
Happy New Year everyone. 2009 was a year of learning and,
definitely, challenges. However, with a very strong team, we were able to
triumph over those challenges. With experience under our belt and, again,
an enthusiastic team, 2010 promises to be another thriving year.
At the end of our 2009 fiscal year:
·
Our ending cash balance was up by 3%
·
Our biggest event, the Craft Fair brought in a total revenue
from exhibitors of $102,177 in 2009 versus $94,216 in 2008.
We are financially strong. Our cash flow is on point to
support all our events, our marketing campaign and our operating expenses.
With this said, I wish you, all a successful, prosperous 2010.

From the President:
As we ring in 2010, many of us exhale a deep breath as we
contemplate 2009.
History books will record this as a time of great learning
and opportunities. Many of us have been challenged to find new ways to
achieve success in our businesses. Everyone will define success
differently. Whether it was maintaining sales from years' past;
reinventing the business for the current economy; or even increasing sales from
the year prior, success will be defined differently by each of us.
Yet, no matter how we define success, it's sure that
we've all learned a great deal during these times. So, as we head
into 2010, we're fortunate that these challenging experiences have taught
us new ways to conduct our businesses and helped us uncovered a creativity that
may have otherwise been dormant.
Like all of you, the leaders of your Association have
learned much this past year. We remain committed to discovering new ways
to attract, stimulate and create more awareness for our historic downtown Mount
Dora.
This Association, and its members, has many reasons to be
proud based on the significant achievements we've accomplished together
in 2009. We continue to forge ahead in 2010, our centennial year, toward
achieving our mutual goal of success for our Mount Dora.
We thank you for the opportunity!

Dora Dollars winner recounts her experience in Mount Dora.
Thank you to all of the participating Merchant's that made Elise Pettingill's trip so enjoyable. Some of you are mentioned in her comments below. Elise won her Dora Dollars at the Florida Highwaymen Art Walk event last August.
The Dora Dollars Sweepstakes continues to bring in hundreds of emails each month. We have received over 6,000 emails and counting at this time. Very soon we will begin a monthly newsletter to these folks to promote Mount Dora and our Merchant Member businesses.
Hello Brian,
We would be happy to tell you about our experience in Mount Dora
with our Dora Dollars. We had a wonderful stay at the LAKESIDE INN (it
was our boys' choice to stay there for historical and personal interest
-they love history, their Mom & Dad honeymooned there and their
Dad & Grandmother once worked there). We walked all around town on
the most beautiful of December days. We had bites to eat at ONE FLIGHT
UP and BIG TWIST. We shopped at ASHLEY'S CORNER, PIECE OF MINE, and WHISPERING WINDS. We also looked in a lot of the other
shops in town like Lancasters, Linda's Country Charm, The Painter's
Dauthter, and Oiliver's Twist Antiques. We had a wonderful dinner at
the GOBLIN MARKET (also our boys' choice-they loved it!).
We would like to thank all the people who were so nice to us (*the
above capitalized are the places we spent Dora Dollars and the
merchants were very friendly). Prior to our week-end stay, we had
dinner with our Dora Dollars at PIZZAMORE' where the owner there was so
great to us-love the pizza! We would also like to mention how
especially nice the ladies were to us at Ashley's Corner.
We had a wonderful week-end. We felt priviliged to have won the
contest. We think the Dora Dollars are a great way to bring people to
our favorite little town - Mount Dora. We Thank You very much for our Dora Dollars win. We would do it again in a heartbeat.
