Welcome 2010

Many people would like to forget 2009 from a business standpoint.  The economy was down and manufacturing ground to a halt.  Many companies took the extra time they and used it to look for ways to make their products better.  We would like to thank those who looked to RIE to solve problems and enhance products with the goal of reaffirming or strengthening their value in the marketplace.

Have a Happy New Year and a prosperous 2010.

Black Zinc Plating Replacement

RIE offers a great alternative to traditional black zinc plating.  Black zinc plating is typically used in applications needing a black appearance and possibly some corrosion protection.  We recently tested typical black zinc plated fasteners for corrosion protection and found the protection to be minimal at best.  Another poor side affect of the black zinc is that if scratched or nicked you will see the silver trivalent plating under the black.  If visual appearance is important going with coatings will enhance your performance and appearance.

Coatings also have integrated PTFE (Teflon) built into the tops coats to ease installation which allow for repeated install and removal.  The coating are also very elastic which means that the coating will not chip or flake during install.
