| DoD Aims to Eliminate CR 6+
Defense Starts Ban on Hexavalent Chrome |
April 8th. 2009--From the desk of The Under Secretary of Defense:
The Department of Defense is taking a major step in its efforts to eliminate the use of hexavalent chromium, a chemical used in plating applications to provide corrosion protection on metal surfaces. Driven by RoHS and other environmental standards, the plating industry has moved towards a safer trivalent zinc plating, but not without a significant sacrifice in performance.
We have been working closely with major defense contractors who have specified the use of Magni Silver, Magni Black or Magni Military Tan to comply with the newly proposed federal environmental and performance standards.
If you are working with government entities, please be aware of this major change in surface finishing and know that we can serve this need for you. |
