There is a lot of  fear in the world right now regarding the global shifting economy.

The News is filled with stories about people losing their jobs, businesses closing, and even our US neighbors  losing their homes.

Yes, we are entering into an uncertain future. We are entering into the Aquarian Age and the old Piscean ways have to crumble to make way for this New Age. As a humanity we are in the middle of a very important spiritual lesson about our unhealthy attachment to the material world.

Remember one of the 5 Sutras of the Aquarian Age:

Understand Through Compassion or You Will Misunderstand the Times.

This sutra is about learning and acting from the heart. This is about people coming together in these times to help each other out. The Piscean motto, "What's In it For Me?"  is being replaced with the Aquarian
motto, "How can my Actions Benefit the Whole?"

Some examples of this sutra are:

Perhaps, you too can think of ways to help out your neigbour to move through these challenging times !

Here is a yogic recipe that is affordable, tasty and easy to make !

Mung Beans & Rice with Vegetables

A perfectly balanced protein dish, easy to digest and very satisfying. Good any time of year but makes a particularly good winter diet.

Ingredients:
4 ½ cups water
½ cup whole mung beans
½ cup basmati rice
1 onion, chopped
3 cloves garlic, minced
¼ cup finely minced ginger root
3 cups chopped vegetables
2 tablespoons ghee or oil
¾ tablespoon turmeric
¼ teaspoon dried crushed red chilés
¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
½ teaspoon coriander
½ teaspoon cumin
½ teaspoon salt

Cooking instructions:
Rinse the mung beans and rice. Add the mung beans to boiling water and cook until they begin to split. Add the rice and cook another 15 minutes, stirring occasionally. Now add the vegetables.

Heat the ghee/oil in a sauté pan and add the onions, garlic and ginger and sauté until clear. Add the spices and cook 5 more minutes, stirring constantly. Add a little water if necessary. Add this to the cooked rice and beans. You can substitute vegetables as you like, as well as use Bragg Liquid Aminos or tamari or soy sauce instead of salt. Tastes great with yoghurt!

Yogi Bhajan Tarot Card of the Month  back to top

2 of Water

"
Understand through compassion or you will misunderstand the times"
-
Yogi Bhajan (master of Kundalini Yoga)

This is one of the five Yogic Sutras for the Aquarian (Information) Age. A sutra is a 'knot'. It is a complex spiritual concept reduced to one sentence and later expanded upon by a spiritual teacher. Sutras allowed sacred teachings to be protected from harm (by appearing harmless to conquerors) and were brief enough to be remembered by students in ancient times.

In the Age of Aquarius, the age of enlightenment, we are being called to move out of the Piscean motto, "what's in it for me?" to the Aquarian motto, "how can my actions benefit the whole?"

Compassion is learning and acting from the heart. If we choose to go into judgment or look away from our suffering  fellow human beings we are misunderstanding the times. It is only the ego and mind that keep us separate from one another and in denial of the truth.

The Aquarian Age is recognizing that we are ONE human tribe on planet earth, all of us brothers and sisters connected by spirit. We are here on this planet to serve, uplift and help one another.

REFLECTION: Keep your heart open today as you approach people and challenges.  Resist  the urge to go into the mind and ego to become  separate. Remember to look into the eyes of others to see the same light that lives in us all.

Yogi Bhajan Tarot for the Aquarian Age is a work in progress to be completed by 2012.
