Dear Friends,
I don't know about you, but I really love September in Washington, DC. Finally, some of the unbearable humidity of August is subsiding, activity is picking up all around us, and along with it traffic (OK, so I don't love that part). For any of you that might not have been paying attention over the summer, the GWSCPA has launched our long overdue new website, with lots of great Members Only features. If you've visited the new site to submit your dues or sign up for a CPE course, you've noticed the Members Only portions by now, but I really want to stress to you how important two of the public features of the new site are too. We've recently issued several pres releases announcing the availability of some fantastic public service areas of the site that can also be great opportunities for our members to grow their businesses, connections and skills. Find A CPA: The Find A CPA function not only highlights our Firm Members, it connects the public with individual CPA members of the GWSCPA based on keyword searches, sector served and services offered. You must opt in to this service- so sign up today!. If you aren't in here, potential clients can't find you. Consider this comment, received just today by a member who recently listed her firm: "Last week, 8.75% of our web traffic came through the GWSCPA website! Keep up the good work!" Volunteer Opportunities: A great way for CPAs to build their skills and networks is through volunteering in the community. Given the large number of nonprofits located in our area, there are plenty of opportunities. Our listings so far range from the general, like tutoring to the very CPA specific, like designing grant accounting systems and helping with financial statements as Board Treasurer. So, take advantage of those opportunities if you have some time to give, and by all means ---get yourself and your colleagues into that Find A CPA Directory! Kari Bedell Executive Director |
