Twilight Tours

The Twilight Tours; free walking tours of Independence National Historical Park,  occur every night* in the summer time till Labor Day.

  
Meet in Signer's Garden at the corner of 5th and Chestnut Streets at 6 PM to meet our volunteer guide and learn some great facts and entertaining stories.
  
And Remember, They are
Free 

 

*Tours will not occur on the 3rd or 4th of July

 
Public Reading of the Declaration

On Sunday, July 8 you are invited to join the staff of Independence National Historical Park to commemorate the anniversary of the first public reading of the Declaration of Independence.

 

This free event begins at 11:45 a.m. with an introduction by a park ranger and will be held on the south side of Independence Square. 

 

 
 

 Ranger led Walking Tours

 Stories from the Past

Starts at Signer's Garden at 5th and Chestnut Streets

 

Daily 10:30 - 11:30 a.m.

 

Join a park ranger for a walking tour and hear about the people, both famous and forgotten, who played a role in establishing Philadelphia as the preeminent city of 18th century America  

Dr. Franklin's Philadelphia

Franklin Court (meet at the Market street entrance)

Daily, 2:30 - 3:30 p.m.

Join a Park Ranger to hear about the many contributions of Benjamin Franklin to his city, his country and the world.

Pops on Independence!  

Independence Hall

8:00 p.m.

Peter Nero and the Philly Pops® return to celebrate America's birthday with "POPS on Independence," a free concert at Independence Hall. Come join the celebration and participate in one of Philadelphia's most popular Fourth of July traditions.  

 

  Pops on Independence

 Note: Seating is first come, first served. Concert goers are encouraged to bring blankets and lawn chairs. Don't forget to say "hi" to our volunteers out there!  They will be the one's with the flags!

July 4th Activities

Independence Day Ceremony

10 a.m. - 11 a.m.

Celebrate our nation's birth with a patriotic salute! Music, speeches and a reading of excerpts from the Declaration of Independence will pay tribute to the history of our nation.

Located in front of Independence Hall, Seating is first come, first served, but there is plenty of lawn to go around.

 

Independence Day Parade

11 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Brings your flags, patriotic spirit and plenty of energy to America's best 4th of July parade! Featuring over 5,000 patriotic and multicultural marchers, musicians, dancers and floats. This year's parade features a "Heroes Salute" honoring the 10th Anniversary of 9/11 - The United States Military, veterans, firefighters and police officers. You won't want to miss the 2012 Independence Day Parade! 

 

Parade will start in front of Independence Hall at the corner of 5th and Chestnut Streets.  Parade viewers are welcome to stand or sit anywhere along the parade route.

 

 

Bell Tapping Ceremony

 

1:00 p.m.

Join the Descendents of the original Declaration of Independence Signers, as they honor their ancestors be ceremonially tapping this symbol of American Freedom.  Choose to attend the ceremony behind Independence Hall at 1:00 p.m.  or grab your spot early at the Liberty Bell Center and watch as the Descendents make their way to the Liberty Bell Chamber to ceremonially tap the Liberty Bell.

* Please be in line for the Liberty Bell Center by 1:00 p.m. to gain access to the Bell Tapping Ceremony.

Located on the South Side of Independence Hall and the Liberty Bell Chamber

Our 2nd Annual Speaker Series is confirmed and we have some great speakers for this year!  To see a full list of our Speakers, Click Here.  Our Speaker Series occurs the third Tuesday of every month (subject to change due to speaker's schedules) and is held in the Second Bank of the United States

 

Registration will open in August and remember to register early, our programs sell out fast!
