Dear Friends of Lyric Fest,
We are writing a personal note to you, our loyal audience members, in hopes that you can plan to be with us on the evening of March 12, 2009 at 8 pm. Lyric Fest will be presented by the Philadelphia Chamber Music Society in The Voice of the Sea at the American Philosophical Society, 427 Chestnut Street.
In this fabulous program the sea in all its splendor is captured in songs of Elgar, Weill, Schubert, Berlioz, Cole Porter, Brahms and so many more. The songs will be presented alongside stories of famous voyages, letters of seafarers and historic ship's logs.
With a fabulous cast of artists: Randall Scarlata, who has a new, highly acclaimed CD out of Bernstein's Mass, Jennifer Casey Cabot, who spent January covering at the Met, David Adams, tenor, described in Opera News as 'flexible, fiery and expressive,' Leslie Johnson, beautiful mezzo whom you may have heard recently with the Bach Festival, will be joining Randi, Laura and Suzanne for this very rich and highly entertaining program.
And if great music, great singing and THE SEA aren't enough...please know that you will be helping us! Your presence will support this collaboration with The Philadelphia Chamber Music Society, a first for Lyric Fest, and one that we hope to continue in the future.
So, if you have already purchased tickets for this concert, we thank you and ask you to use them - and bring friends! The PCMS is offering a special ticket price to Lyric Fest audiences of $13. Please take advantage of this great offer. You need only mention Lyric Fest. The PCMS phone #215-569-8080. As always, we are grateful to you for your support of Lyric Fest throughout the year. All that we are able to accomplish in a season is because of you, our wonderful community of music lovers. Thank you and we hope to see you soon.
Sincerely, Laura, Randi, Suzanne Co-Founding Artistic Directors
