MacArthur Redevelopment Plan
Plan Chair Jen Dillman reported that we have the final plan. Jen said the Regional Planning Commission is "really happy" with the final version of the plan which is "much better" than the draft version. There is some doubt about whether Lakota Group will do a formal presentation as they did for the Enos Park plan because the project is out of money. The MBBA has a "huge role" in the plan, and President Jobe suggests the MBBA provide the funding for the final presentation to the general public. Jen indicated she would request that Lakota and the Regional Planning Commission present the plan to the Springfield City Council for approval.
A "MacBack Committee" from the City of Springfield is planned with teams for various areas of the plan, including signage, branding, infrastructure and economic development.
The plan document is so large that it will be difficult to disseminate copies of it to interested parties, including the MBBA Board and Membership. Several suggestions were made, including posting on the Lakota website and publishing an Executive Summary of key points.

We also sponsor events such as the MacArthur Artists Market, Adopt-A-Street cleanup and other neighborhood events. The MBBA supports business-oriented issues before the Springfield City Council and works as a liaison between neighbors and business owners to help resolve issues.
The MBBA has been instrumental in pursuing a redevelopment plan for MacArthur, and we are excited about partnering with businesses and property owners along MacArthur to implement the plan. Detailed plan information and documents to date can be found at http://thelakotagroup.com/macarthur/.
It is very important that we have the support of area businesses, organizations and neighbors. By joining the MBBA, you are making an investment in the future of MacArthur that is worth the very reasonable cost.
