MacArthur Boulevard Redevelopment Study & Planning Project
Update
Jen Dillman, Sangamon County Board
Jen
reported that the Steering Committee, led by Sangamon County Planning
Commission, has interviewed 7 consultants and will make a decision by the end of the week.
Jen expects the Committee to take a resolution to the Sangamon County Board in January to approve a contract with the chosen consultant. A press conference will be held at that time to announce the winning consultant.
The study includes not just a street-scape plan, but also short- and long-term plans for economic development in the MacArthur area. We can expect the chosen consultant and process to include a strong public input component - from business owners, neighbors, government and area schools.
The plan will outline the next steps needed for
implementation and to identify possible funding sources. The project will begin in January and end in the fall of 2010.

MacArthur
Area Notes Stay tuned for some exciting developments that are in the incubation stage - there's talk of a possible TIF district and some sales and redevelopment plans that are just getting started. Can we dare to hope one of our fondest wishes will come true in 2010?
New graffiti on the front of the old K-Mart building has been added to the graffiti on the back. Who do we contact about that again? It's so confusing!
There's been some activity at the previous Aquaria Unlimited store, but we don't have any more information.
