What is the Artist Market?
The MacArthur
Boulevard Business Association's third annual artist market is right around the
corner and we have new additions to this year's market.
The event will once
again be held outdoors at the Town and Country Shopping Center
on MacArthur Boulevard each of the 4 Saturdays in June: 6, 13,
20, 27. The show will run from 9am to 3pm, rain or shine!
In addition to
expanded show time hours, the artist market will feature limited food vendor, musical
entertainment and a magician for the kids.
The market has nearly 35 artist committed to
each show. Artist who have
agreed to participate include fine crafts and other original art work,
photography, painted furniture, jewelry and ceramics. The show is open to
handcrafted items only; no manufactured items.
The Artist Market is
sponsored by the MacArthur Boulevard Business Association and the Illinois
Times. The market was created three
years ago to attract additional shoppers to the boulevard area as a way to
showcase our locally owned independent businesses. |
We Need Your Help Now.The Committee has been hard at work recruiting artists, securing the location, and publicizing the event. Now we need a little help. We need 6 people to place 18" x 24" signs on wire frames at high-traffic locations around the city this week, and then pick them up again around June 28. The signs have a wire H rack that fits nicely into the sign and then into the ground - EASY in other words! Email Info@ShopOnMacArthur.com to volunteer!

We Need Your Help in June, too.
We need several people to sit at the MBBA tent one Saturday in June for several hours and talk to artists and visitors. This is a tough one, but somebody's got to do it!
If sitting around & chatting isn't your style, and you enjoy interacting with and supporting artists, you could help us set up and/or take down. Set up is on Saturdays from 8-9am and we check artists in, answer questions, direct traffic and set up our own tent. Take down is on Saturdays from 3-4pm - we help artists break down their exhibits, take our own tent down and make sure the area is clean.
