Greetings!
Missed the meeting?  Here's the scoop!
There were several new members, as well as long-time members who were attending a meeting for the first time, since this was our first membership meeting held at Dublin Pub over the lunch hour. We hope that alternating between morning and lunch meetings makes it easier for more people to participate.

Speaker: Paul O'Shea
Paul O'Shea from the City of Springfield presented an overview of the city's master plan and highlighted several ongoing projects as well as "wish list" items such as the completion of the Capitol Avenue streetscape and consolidation of the railroad corridors.
Local Government Update
County board member Jen Dillman shared information about a City of Springfield proposal to annex a portion of the south end of MacArthur, which would include some of the existing payday loan stores. She stated that she is holding off on pursuing the payday loan ordinance at the county level, since the existing city ordinance would apply if the annexation takes place.
Third Annual MacArthur Artist Market
We are still looking for additional artists to participate in this year's Artist Market, which will be held every Saturday in June from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Town & Country Shopping Center. Volunteers are needed to help staff the Artist Market as well as to distribute flyers to local businesses and churches ahead of time. The market has been expanded this year to include live entertainment and a magician for the children. Pease's Candy offered to have a booth to sell popcorn and nuts.

Neighborhood Mixer Wrap Up
Cory Jobe thanked the volunteers who made the mixer a success. Carol Kneedler reported that more than 150 people attended, including 77 who provided their email addresses for future contacts and 5 who became members.
Shred Event Recap
Sharon Whalen from the Illinois Times reported that more than 6500 lbs. of paper was shredded and recycled at the first free shred event sponsored by Cintas. Because the response was so positive, it will probably be offered again.
