"A Paradise for the Kids"
Every week in our updates we will give you a little history of one of the children at the home.  This weeks child is Abigail Lopez

Abigail was eleven months old when she was admitted to Subic Bay Children's Home.  She had a pretty face with a dark complexion, pointed nose, and big eyes.

Nine
months after being admitted Abigail's legs were still weak and she could not stand without being supported. She still had no teeth and her only sound was "da-da".

When Abigail cried it will take an hour before she was pacified. Evidence of fear was manifested whenever she was touched on the head and lower extremities - She would jerk her head or foot. She cried a lot but would stop when given a bottle. She loved to be rocked in a stroller.

Whenever Abigail was with other children she would be  quiet and observe. Sometimes she would make bubbling sounds as if she was singing and would smile when talked to.  She is intelligent and has a strong personality.

After four years in the home Abigail is well adjusted.  She is now in school and excelling.  She is very good at memorizing especially hymns and poems.  On recognition day April 3, 2006 she received an honor award for being the best in English.

Personal Note:  This little girl is a sweetheart but I could tell she had a strong personality.  She is still working on her English. She couldn't understand all that I said but would talk to me through one of the kids who could translate.  As you can see she still has her pretty face.  She has a raspy little voice that matches her personality.  She also has a good sense of humor.
