"A Paradise for the Kids"

Every week in our updates we will give you a little history of one of the children at the home.  This weeks child is Kenneth Christiano.

Kenneth accompanied his mother Vanessa everyday to the factory in Bulacan where she worked.  On January 13, 2008 a co-worker of his mother named Rose Rodavida witnessed how she mistreated her son Kenneth by beating him with a washing machine hose.  Kenneth ran towards Rose for protection from his mother.  Kenneth's mother told Rose that she could have responsibility of Kenneth from now on.

Rose reported the incident to the local barangay (police) officials. She kept thinking that Kenneth's mother would return for her son but she never did.   After five months she decided to take Kenneth to Subic Bay Children's Home so he could get an education and have a better life because she knew that she could not provide them.

Kenneth was brought to Subic Bay Children's Home on June 22, 2008. He was a malnourished, lonely, and mischievous young boy. He has made friends and is playing with his new friends.  Now a student at Subic Bay Christian Academy he is learning to read and write and he is also learning about God. Subic Bay Children's Home is not only providing an education but also providing his basic needs and the love he needs.

A Look at the Philippine Jeepney

Before my visit to the Philippines I have never seen nor heard of a vehicle called a "Jeepney."

The Philippine Jeepney is a unique vehicle that was first introduced in the Philippines after World War II.  Many U.S. military jeeps were left behind and they were turned into public transportation vehicles called "Jeepneys"

A standard joke in the Philippines is "How many Filipinos can a Jeepney hold"?  Answer, "One more."

I have thought about building one here in the U.S. from a Jeep and put "Subic Bay Children's Home" on the side.  That would get some attention I guarantee.

This is a 5 minute video about the Philippine "Jeepney."
Coming Soon!

Soon we will have a new video giving a tour of the children's home and the goals achieved in the last year.  Also we will show our plans for the future.  Hopefully it will be ready by the first of March.
