"A Paradise for the Kids"
Every week in our updates we will give you a little history of one of the children at the home. This week's child is Honeylou Alcantara. .

Honeylou Alcantara was three years old when she came to Subic Bay Children's Home on November 15, 2007.
According to Anabel, Honeylou's mother, she and her daughter Honeylou were living with her live-in partner in Gloria, Oriental Mindoro. They were living normally and peacefully when her live in partner was found dead by some fishermen beside the seashore. It was believed his death was the result of drowning. Because of this Anabel decided to go back to her hometown to ask for help.
Anabel and Honeylou were living in a small dilapidated house which was owned by her aunt. They would beg for food from their relatives and neighbors. She was not able to work because she had been diagnosed with Pulmonary Tuberculosis. Honeylou was deprived of everything she needed not just the basic needs. Anabel decided to surrender her daughter to the HOME because she could not provide for Honeylou.
Honeylou was very thin and malnourished when she came to Subic Bay Children's Home. The Home immediately provide her basic needs and gave her vitamins. We continue to pray that Honeylou will grow up to be a Christian lady and God- fearing citizen.
Personal Note: On my first trip in 2008 this tiny little girl fell asleep in my arms while riding in back of Jeepney coming from our trip to McDonald's. It was very hot that day and by the time we got back to the home she was almost stuck to me. Pray for her. She is a precious little girl and has a hard time with her asthma. |
