"A Paradise for the Kids"

Every week in our updates we will give you a little history of one of the children at the home.  This week's child is Maria Michaela Adrian Pabillena

Maria Michaela Adrian Pabillena "Michelle" is one of the children that came from Batangas to Subic Bay Children's Home November 15, 2007.

The parents of Michaela are Richard and Dian Pabillena.  Michaela's mother Dian worked in "Thank You Beer House" in Pasig.  Dian left her children to live another man.

Richard, Michaela's father, asked his neighbor, Jenny Ibanez, to temporary take care of his children so that he could earn money for their transportation to Zambales. However, Richard did not shows up and return as he promised.  After five days of waiting for Richard, Ms. Ibanez decided to turn the children over to the Mandaluyong Social Service who subsequently referred to RSCC.

On October 28, 2002, Dian went to the Mandaluyong Social Welfare Office and was able to talk to a Social Worker, Ms. Arlene Gampal.  Upon talking with her, Dian stated that she was a vendor in Munoz.  She also promised that she was going to visit her children the following day.  The day came but Dian didn't show up and visit Michaela and Rico (Michaela's Brother) so no information was gathered.

The Social Worker that was assigned to conduct home visits and gathered information about Dian.  Ms. Cecile Gaitana (Social Worker) gathered the information needed. She learned Dian was living in Bagong Ilog, Pasig City with her common-law husband Allan, who was jobless.  She also learned that Dian was working as a Dancer at "Foreman's Castle" located in Mandaluyong City.

While gathering information about Dian, one of Dian's co-workers revealed more information.  She also suggested that it was better for the two children to stay in an orphanage for safety reasons and because she knew that Dian could not provide the needs of the minor children.

Ma. Michaela "Michelle" was admitted with her older brother Rico. Upon admission according to the caregivers Michelle was very responsive when somebody talked to her.  She was also noted as silent and very observant of her surroundings.  On May 31, 2006 Michelle was admitted at Asian Children's Foundation Inc and on November 15, 2007 she was transferred to Subic Bay Children's Home.

Upon admission to Subic Bay Children's Home Michelle was a very small girl who was very observant and very talkative although she was thin and malnourished.  Subic Bay Children's Home urgently provided the needs of Michelle and vitamins for her good health.  While staying at the home Michelle recovered and became healthy and very active and participated in many different activities.

Presently Michelle is now studying at Subic Bay Christian Academy. She is very active and has earned awards every recognition day based on her performance.  She also learned a lot from the Bible and memorized many Bible verses.

The home continues to pray that Michelle will become a good and Godly citizen someday and reach her goals in life.

P.S.  In my opinion Michelle is one of the cutest kids whose foot ever touched the earth,  Also, she has a personality to match that face.  And no you can't have her!

I was on the phone with Rodrigo (Assistant Director) the other day when he told me with an excited voice I have to go.  The pig is giving birth.  Later that day the pig gave birth to 11 cute little piglets.

The piglets are up and playing.  The kids got to play with them a short time but Rodrigo didn't think it was a good idea for the kids to play with their food.

These guys will produced a lot of quality meat for the children's home.

A Donation Came in the Mail

We received a donation in the mail today that had no return address.  Inside was a note that said,

To whom it may concern,

The money enclosed is for the Subic Bay Children's Home in Olongapo City, Philippines.  I know it is not much but the Lord can use anything.

A Sister in Christ

Included in the envelope were three $1 bills.

This reminds me of the widow in Mark 12:41-44

41  And Jesus sat over against the treasury, and beheld how the people cast money into the treasury: and many that were rich cast in much.

42  And there came a certain poor widow, and she threw in two mites, which make a farthing.

43  And he called unto him his disciples, and saith unto them, Verily I say unto you, That this poor widow hath cast more in, than all they which have cast into the treasury:

44  For all they did cast in of their abundance; but she of her want did cast in all that she had, even all her living.

Talking to the Kids

I got a phone call the other night from the children's home and was able to talk with a lot of the kids.  The only English many of them knew was "Hello" but it was it was still a big blessing just to hear their voices.
