"A Paradise for the Kids"

Every week in our updates we will give you a little history of one of the children at the home.  This week's child is Joselito Lao Jr.

Joselito Lao Jr. is case of an abandoned and neglected child who was left by his father with a  friend's mother, Mrs. Estrella Castillio.  Joey's mother gave custody of Joey to his father and left never to return.

Mr. Lao (Joey's father) asked his friend Mr. Carmello if Joey could stay in their home for one week with his two sons.  Mr. Carmello allowed them to stay for one week. After a couple of a weeks Mr. Carmello decided to talk to Mr. Lao to see if Joey could go back to live with him because he could not provide the needs of his own family and it was difficult for them to budget their money.  But they stayed for a few moths longer.

After a couple of months there was tension between Joey and the sons of Mr. Carmello.  Mr. Carmello accused his wife of neglecting their sons because of Joey.

Furthermore he could not provide the needs for all of them because he had no regular income.

Mr. Lao finally took his family back except for Joey.  That's when Mr. Lao decided to leave Joey with the Castillio family.  He never came to visit Joey again.

Because of this case Mrs. Estrella decided to take Joey to an institution wherein he could have his basic needs met.

Joselito was very thin when he came to Subic Bay Children's Home.

Joselito is studying at Subic Bay Christian Academy and is very active in church activities.  He is now a heathy young boy.

We are praying  that someday Joselito Lao Jr. will be a good and responsible citizen of our society.
"20 Ton Virtual Rice Drive"

3.2 Tons Sold Already!

Brother Rodrigo Valbuena (Assistant Director) got a quote on 20 tons of rice last week and it came out to be the same price as fifteen tons at the current price they pay now which means we get a 25% discount buying a whole 20 tons at one time.

At this rate we have enough funds now to purchase 3.2 tons of rice.   Which means we need a total of $12,900 instead of the $17,200.

The kids are really enjoying all the new playground equipment donated by a special friend of the children's home.  The trampoline broke but Mr. Dave, the welder, put it back together as good as new.
