"A Paradise for the Kids"
Every week in our updates we will give you a little history of one of the children at the home. This weeks child is Rogelio Sevilla.
Rogelio Sevilla
Rogelio has been with the Subic Bay Children's Home since November 7, 1996. He is the second to the eldest of four children. His parents separated when his mother found out her husband was seeing another women. She then ran off with her boyfriend leaving her four children with their father.
The father was now living with his mistress who also had children of her own. There was no room in this new family for Rogelio and his siblings and they were being mistreated by his father's mistress. They were left to sleep outside and find their own food.
Rogelio's grandmother who was a very poor lady took them in. She had no better conditions to offer Rogelio as well. She lived in a shack with no rooms. They slept on her dirt floor on a mat beside the dogs. When the children were brought to Subic Bay Children's Home they were covered in sores due to their living conditions. It took a lot of time and care to get them strong and healthy. Their bodies had been completely infested with bugs and their diet didn't usually consist of more than a little rice. Rogelio is now eighteen years old. He is a very good looking young man and has much concern for others. We pray that the Lord will use his life in a very special way. He has really come a long way from where he began.
Personal Note: Rogelio is quiet and soft-spoken. He and his brother Rafael are very good at playing the guitar. When all the kids gather together to sing either Rogelio or Rafael is the instrumentalist. |

Jingjing's Debut

Jingjing celebrated her eighteenth birthday last Friday. She really enjoyed the big party (debut). The theme color was lavender. They had lechon (whole toasted pig), spaghetti, and a big, beautiful birthday cake. For an instructional video on making your own lechon go to:
Graphic Version
A cake like this would be $200 - $300 here in the U.S. In the Philippines it is only $30 - $35.
