"A Paradise for the Kids"

Every week in our updates we will give you a little history of one of the children at the home.  This weeks child is Raphael Sevilla.

Raphael Sevilla

Raphael has been with the Subic Bay Children's Home since October 3, 1996.  Raphael was two and a half years old when his parents separated.  His mother ran off with her lover when she found out her husband was also seeing another women.

When she left, she left Raphael including Raphael's other brother and his six month old sister with their father.  The father was living with his mistress who also had children of her own.

Soon there was no more room in this new family for the Sevilla children. They were left to sleep outside and to find their own food. There were times their aunt would feel sorry for them and give them a little bit of rice to eat.

One day a homosexual neighbor offered to take Raphael into his home and send him to school. But instead of being Raphael's guardian the homosexual repeatedly  molested Raphael.

Raphael's father heard about Subic Bay Children's Home and brought his three children to us.

When Raphael was brought to Subic Bay Children's Home he was covered in sores due to bad living conditions.  It took a lot of time and care to get him strong and healthy.  His body had been completely infested with bugs which had caused sores all over his body.

Through living here at Subic Bay Children's Home, Raphael has learned so much, not only academically but spiritually as well.  He has a very beautiful voice which he has been developing.  He is one of the soloist of the children's choir and is also active in our church ministries and many outreaches.

Personal Note:  Rafael is a very shy and quiet with people he doesn't know - people like me.  He is getting where he will talk to me some.  He is very good at playing the guitar and seems to be the one that is the music leader in the bunch.   He is a good boy and pleasing to be around.
We have had $400 of the $600 needed to ship the Christmas boxes already donated.  I plan to send the boxes at the end of September so that they will arrive early.

250 Chickens in the Freezer

Last week 250 chickens went to the freezer.  We still have 250 alive and well but only for a short time.  They will have good quality freshly frozen chicken for weeks to come.

Many of the Kids Have Boils

After the trip to the beach a few weeks ago many of the little boys and girls have formed painful boils on their bodies.  Evidently they were infected by something in the water.  They are being treated with antibiotics and pain medicine.  Keep them in prayer.
