Every week in our updates we will give you a little history of one of the children at the home. This weeks child is Rosemarie Sevilla.
Rosemarie Sevilla "Mayang"
Rosemarie was born May 10, 1994. Rosemarie's mother deserted her when she was six months old. She left her husband and three children to go live with her boyfriend. A few weeks later Rosemarie's father left her and her brothers to live with their grandmother.
The house was very small and Rosemarie and her brothers had to sleep on the floor beside the dogs. She soon acquired a common disease here in the Philippines called "Galis-Aso." Translated in English it means "Dog-Mange."
Since her grandmother was so poor she had a really hard time raising her grandchildren and many times they would have to skip meals. They lived there for almost a year before her grandmother brought her and her brothers here to us.
Rosemarie is now a beautiful, active young lady who sings very beautifully in our children's choir.
Personal Note: During my visits I had more opportunities to be around the older kids than I did the younger. Rosemarie was one of the kids I was around a lot. They all love to sing so I stayed around them as much as I could to listen.
Rosemarie is a very sweet young lady and very quiet at least when I was around. I hear she likes to talk if you speak Tagalog. We do talk on the phone sometimes (in English).
