"A Paradise for the Kids"
Every week in our updates we will give you a little history of one of the children at the home. This weeks child is Rebecca Moon.
Rebecca Moon
Rebecca was born January 12, 2000. Late one Saturday night on February 7, 2000 there was a knock on the gate of the children's home. A middle aged lady came through with a bundle in her arms. It was a newborn baby.
The baby was quite a sight! Wrapped in flour sacks and an old dirty towel she was laid on the table. The mother tried to sell her to us. The mother was a peanut vendor who had babies on the side to make extra money.
The Lord was watching over Rebecca. She wasn't sold or left to die. She was brought here to Subic Bay Children's Home.
The mother signed the papers, but when she realized she wasn't going to get paid for Rebecca she said she wasn't sure she wanted to leave her. We told her it was too late and she would have to go.
The next day the mother's brother, after finding out she did not receive any money, came here with his machete to get the baby back. The Lord was still watching over Rebecca and he did not succeed.
We named the child Rebecca Renee Moon. During Rebecca's first six months she was being taken care of by a volunteer from the States, Heidi Moon.
She is now very strong and healthy. Her complexion is beautiful. After she arrived she was having trouble with her belly button. The infection is all cleared up now. Rebecca is a beautiful young girl. God has wonderful things in store for her. Please pray for her daily. Pray that she will grow up to be a virtuous woman that loves the Lord with all of her heart.
Personal Note: During my stay at the children's home I was around Rebecca a lot. She kinda hung around. She is one of the sweetest girls you will ever meet. When she gives you a hug (She likes to give hugs) she really puts a squeeze on you. She is a very precious little girl. In the last shipment that arrived I had put a pair of pink, fuzzy house slippers and some candy in a baggie for her.
