"Birthday Cards" How They Enjoy Them!

Thanks to everyone who sends birthday cards to the kids.  The other night (about 1:00 AM) I was talking to one of the big girls and I heard her munching on something.  I asked, "What are you doing"?  She said, "Eating a cookie."  I asked, "Where did you get cookies"?  She replied, "From Abigail, She bought cookies with her birthday money she got in the mail."  I was happy to hear that she was sharing and they were all enjoying cookies.

 Chocolate Milk!

We just sent over $60 to buy fresh milk (the refrigerated kind - a real treat) and Hershey's Chocolate syrup from "Royal" to make all 40 kids a double portion of chocolate milk.  They have "Family Night" on Friday night and I'm sure this will be a fun drink for that occasion.

If anyone can think of another treat the kids might enjoy or would like to do your own email me - mark@subicbaykids.org

Worker Bonus!

Praise the Lord we were able to give each of the workers $10 (500 Pesos) each.  This is a HUGE, HUGE blessing for them.

Also, one of our supporters has sent some gifts to the staff and workers that should arrive in a few weeks.  She is giving them a "BONUS" also.  I know the amount but I am not telling because some of the staff read these email updates. (One thing I've learned about my beloved Filipinos is that they don't keep secrets very well.  So I keep things from them just to drive them nuts.)

How Much 500 Pesos ($10) Means to Them

During my first visit to the Philippines last year I went to visit a hospital in Olongapo.  A terminal man was in a bed in the hallway with his wife.  (Above)  (There if you can't pay they put you in the hallway and won't let you leave)  I wanted to give them so money for food but I didn't know how much.  I asked the pastor with me how much should I give them.  He told me 500 pesos ($10).  He said NOBODY has that kind of money in their pocket.  The average wage there is $25 - $30 a week.  (And we think our economy is bad).

Caterpillar Parts?

If anyone know where to get parts for the Caterpillar E-70 backhoe that the children's home owns let me know.  I have "Googled" and can't find anything.
Blessed is he that considereth the poor...

Ps. 41:1-3
  1. Blessed is he that considereth the poor: the LORD will deliver him in time of trouble.
  2. The LORD will preserve him, and keep him alive; and he shall be blessed upon the earth: and thou wilt not deliver him unto the will of his enemies.
  3. The LORD will strengthen him upon the bed of languishing: thou wilt make all his bed in his sickness.

5 Promises
1.      He will deliver a man who considers the poor.
2.      He will preserve this man and keep him alive.
3.      He will bless him and not deliver him to his enemies.
4.      He will take care of him when he is sick.
5.      He will help him to endure the sickness physically.
