We Are Thankful For You!

Have a happy Thanksgiving everyone and remember to give thanks for the blessings you recognize, and those that might look like challenges, (but I call "blessings in disguise"). I am thankful for all of you and the blessing you are to us at Fern Life Center.

 

As we head into the holidays remember to keep your heart open and cope with your stress in a healthy way. Little acts of kindness and generosity go a long way to helping the "season be bright." Check out these links for things people are doing to pay it forward.

Dr. Gillian's Offers Fern Life Center One Hour Complimentary Teaching Home Visits!
  

 

Have you enjoyed health benefits from Fern Life Center that you would like to share with your friends and family? Have you tried to explain the care you receive at Fern Life Center but wish for more clarity on a few of the details? Is there a topic in integrative medicine you would like to know more about? For a limited time, gather a minimum of 3 or more people together and Dr. Gillian will come to your house, (or coffee shop), and teach one complimentary hour on the topic of your choosing. Learn more about how to take advantage of Fern Life services, how to prepare for this winter's cold season, the intricacies of an elimination diet or options for treating autoimmune disease, allergies, or depression. Or think of your own topic! 

 

The small printLocation must be within 15 miles of downtown Seattle or Issaquah. Appointments available all day Thursdays & Fridays and mornings between 8-10 Monday - Wednesday. Subject to Dr. Gillian's availability. This is not intended to be a medical visit. If only one person is present at the appointed time and place, this will be charged as a regular hour-long medical visit.

 

November Recipe - Dr.Gillian's Tasty "Ladoo"

 

"Ladoo" is a "ball-shaped sweet popular in south Asian countries commonly served at festive occasions," per Wikipedia. Around Fern Life Center, we know them to be raw all-natural energy snacks! Also, I have to give credit where it's due: these ladoo were originally a recipe by Sarah Kruse, Ayurvedic maven par excellence. 

 

Be sure to use organic ingredients if available!

 

1 cup of:

            sesame seeds (or flax seeds, roughly ground)

            sunflower seeds

            coconut flakes, small size

            chopped dates

            honey

              nut butter (almond or peanut)

            optional: carob chips

 

2 tbspns of:

            cinnamon

            cardamon

            fresh finely chopped ginger

           

pinch (or two): cayenne pepper, to warm up this winter season! 

 

Wash hands. Mix all ingredients together in a large bowl by kneading with bare hands. Roll into balls. Place on wax paper (so they don't all stick together) and refrigerate to firm them up.

 

That's it! Easy to make and healthy energy to eat!
