First Bank of Berne is Indiana's #1 bank

Success again, in 2010. First Bank of Berne was ranked theFirst bank of Berne #1 best performing bank in the state of Indiana for the first quarter of 2010. This being the 5th quarter in a row that First Bank of Berne has earned the prestigious honor of #1 from the Indiana Bank Performance Report completed by Financial Management Consulting Group.

The quarterly report analyzes the 102 Indiana banks on nine various financial factors such as interest margin, efficiency, asset quality (loans) and profits.  First Bank of Berne had the best overall average ranking for the 2010 first quarter and the entire year of 2009, after having held the honor for the second quarter in 2008.

Safe, strong, secure, and well capitalized best describes the area's traditionally conservative bank. With some of the best technology and products, FBB offers the latest in text alerts and mobile banking, as well as conventional banking. "While we really do not try to be the number one bank in the state, we just continue to do what is right for our customers, and offer what our customers want, they come first. As a result, we have done very well." stated First Bank of Berne president Kent Liechty.  "People know they can trust us."

First Bank of Berne donates to Liberty Center Fire Department

fire department

First Bank of Berne recently donated $5000.00 to the Liberty Township Volunteer Fire Dept. for the 2010 New Fire Station Fundraiser.  Pictured is Fire Chief Jeremy Daugherty and Captain Jim Platt accepting the oversized check from Charles Isch, then President/CEO of First Bank of Berne; Teresa Flaugher, Asst. VP/Marketing Director; and Terry Troxel, Asst. VP and Bluffton Branch Manager of First Bank of Berne.

Liberty Township Fire Dept. has kicked off their capital campaign to raise funds for the land purchase and construction of the much needed new fire station. The department decided to initiate a fundraising campaign in order to avoid any substantial tax increase to the residents of the township.

The existing building has long been outgrown and insufficient to serve the needs of the department. Dollars needed for this project are far greater than the capital tax base of Liberty Township.

The estimated cost of construction could be near $400,000; with hopes that about 50% will come from federal grants  Location of the new facility is unknown at this time, but there are a few prospective possibilities. The size of the lot needed will be close to five acres.

Chief Daugherty and Captain Platt both expressed great appreciation to First Bank of Berne for the donation and for taking the lead in this campaign kick-off.   They talked about how the donation will be used toward to the purchase of land and the construction of the building. It is their hopes that other individuals and businesses will consider contributing to the much needed community cause.
