From the Desk of the PresidentThe
recent turmoil in the financial markets, has produced an increased
interest in professional networking. The BABCNE is mindful of this and
has organized two events to provide a greater opportunity for members to mingle with the international business community in New England and with your fellow members.
- The 16th International business forum and networking evening on February 23,
is once again bringing together memberships of the many international
business associations in the New England area. The forum will take
place at the offices of Bingham McCutchen. Back by popular demand is
Christopher Probyn, Chief Economist, State Street Global Advisors, who
will give us his insights into the year ahead. What
are global economic indicators predicting? Which markets have been
worst hit by recession and which offer a bright spot on the horizon?
Where should businesses retreat and where should they explore
opportunity? Get answers to these questions and more. This
event sells out early, so make your reservations this week by sending a
check to the BABCNE office.
- On March 11, we have our annual, eagerly anticipated treat for members
- , the BABCNE Members Evening. Dr Phil Budden, our Consul General, has kindly agreed to open his home on Beacon Hill to BABCNE members.
What is "networking?" To define the term broadly, "networking" is utilizing your contacts to get what you want. Commonly, "Networking" is used to refer to group situations in which business people interact. It's a current buzzword for the age-old principal "It's not what you know but who(m) you know."
We would like to thank you for your generous support of the BABCNE. Whether you sponsored or hosted and event, donated an item for our Christmas luncheon or provided support in any other way, we would like you to know that you are very much appreciated! I look forward to welcoming everyone to the above events as we enter our 24th year.
Sincerely, Paul Stanislas

Immigration Update By Steve Clark, Flynn & Clark, P.C. Employers Gird for New H-1B Season: The Embattled Work Visa Role of the H-1B Visa The H-1B Visa is the primary work visa employers use when employing foreign workers.
