Greetings!
Wow! It's August already, and this year is flying by. Now that the green grass is yellow, the waterfalls are drying up and everything is tinder dry, brush up your skills and get ready for the fall: Attend the PPC convention in Pasadena this month 9th-12th. Don't, and I mean don't miss this opportunity.
What's in it for me you might ask? Well, esteemed pro photographers will presenting seminars to further your education.
Vendors will be on hand with great discounts on equipment. Amazing images will be on display all around the facility for your viewing pleasure. A PPC affiliates table will be there-- volunteer to help out PPLAC. Many master photographers will be wandering the halls wearing well deserved medals around their necks--willing to answer any photographic questions that you may have.
This month will be our third Digital Photographic Competition, so get those photos get them ready. It's not too late to receive the merits you need to become PPLAC photographer of the year. So.... what are you waiting for? Even if you aren't coveting that title, you should attend and enter to listen to the judges comments and gain knowledge on how to improve your own images.
The board is working hard for you and we will be restarting the safaris later on in the autumn so watch out for that. Also, we are planing a two-day Lightroom 4 workshop, day one for beginners and day two for intermediates. So, please watch out for those announcements.
In closing, I want to take the chance to congratulate one of our very own members who has passed the very difficult test given by Adobe, and is now an official "Adobe Certified Expert in Photoshop & Lightroom", Marcia Gold. "You go girl"!!!
Cheers, Bob Young PPLAC President

July Meeting Recap:
June meeting speaker, photographer Scott Robert Lim, showed us how to separate ourselves from the rest of the pack. With just a few, simple, inexpensive tools, Scott Robert illustrated how multiple flash units on location can make our images look more professional than the competition.

The meeting was jam packed with info; no one in the room even wanted to take a refreshment break! Thanks, SRL, for sharing your secrets!
