Greetings!
Wow! Just when you thought things couldn't get better with our open house, along comes the first of four Digital Photographic Competitions. What a night it was! We had 68 entries and 28 merits---- congratulation to all (even if you didn't merit). Folks, let me remind you that this is a great learning tool. Everyone I talk to tells me that their photography has improved since they started entering; it's the only way to get real feedback.
An exciting year is coming up with all of the new cameras and related toys. Nikon has unveiled the D800, a new camera boasting a 36.15 million image pixel full-frame sensor and--- now there's talk of a D700 with more pixels. When will this madness end! Canon has something up its sleeve for sure. Lexar's highest-performance compact flash to date, the Professional 1000X, is about to ship with 129MBs (now that's fast), and don't forget Adobe is going to release CS6. Don't know about you, but my head is spinning.
On a final note, this ship can't sail with just a Captain and a small (but efficient) crew: We need help. Think you're up to the task? Give one of your board members a call and offer to volunteer.
See you at this month's meeting with Ed Freeman and his "Computer-Enhanced Image Magic"!
Cheers, Bob Young PPLAC President

March Meeting:
Photographer and Photoshop Magician
Ed Freeman

Thursday, March 22nd
Zoom in on Photographer Ed Freeman
"Computer-Enhanced Image Magic"
Prepare for a fast-paced and informative evening... with photographer Ed Freeman! Ed Freeman has built a reputation as a creative individual who works with cameras and Photoshop in equal measure. His computer-enhanced images range from the undetectable to the outrageous and all steps in between. In this lecture, Freeman will show before and after versions of various pictures and detail the process of putting together the final product. His many years of teaching have given him the ability to explain the most complicated procedures clearly and simply, and he is unabashedly enthusiastic about sharing his knowledge and techniques.
