Greetings!
Wow! September is here - where did the summer go? As the kids get ready to return to school or ship off to college, I'm preparing for a busy fall season in my studio.
At our August PPLAC general meeting, Tim Matheisen shared his insights on the judging, evaluation and scoring procedures that we follow during Image Competition. Tim also discussed the "12 Elements" used to judge images, which help us to take our images to a higher level in competition as well as for our Clients. Striving for that next level is what sets you apart from other photographers in an increasingly crowded marketplace, so I hope you will participate in PPLAC's next Image Competition in October.
In the meantime, we're looking forward to this month's program by CIPPA president Dan Holmes. Dan will share his perspective on workflow in a digital environment. If you're feeling a bit overwhelmed, Dan will help you get a handle on managing all those digital assets to speed up your workflow and get you back behind the camera faster.
We are in the process of booking speakers for 2012 so "watch this space" for updates on the exciting, educational and inspirational programs coming your way, or check our website home page at PPLAC.com. I look forward to seeing you at our next meeting!
Regards, Jim Brammer PPLAC President

PPLAC's September Meeting
Dan Holmes
Thursday, September 22nd
Networking - 6:30 PM
Program - 7:00 PM Sharp

Learn how to streamline your workflow and decrease your stress with award-winning photographer and CIPPA President Dan Holmes!
Photography is like a three-legged stool: Capture, Develop, Deliver Capture hasn't changed since the very first shutter click - this is the fun stuff: composition, story, light, timing, and use of the camera and lenses. Development hasn't really changed either - we still take the raw material from the camera and use it to create the final image. The tools have changed and we can do a whole lot more - but the concept is the same.
Delivery: to protect, store, file, and show. The concept isn't different, but this leg is vastly more complicated! We are shooting thousands of images, throwing them into some kind of digital storage, hoping that we can find what we want, when we need it, and that we don't have that fatal hard drive crash. (CONT)

August Meeting Recap:
Kudos to PPA Master of Photography Tim Mathiesen. At our August meeting, Tim gave us the inside scoop on judging, scoring, image preparation, and presentation at local, state, regional, and international image competitions.
His insights gave us a lot to ponder about our images before submission-- and solid information on how to make them better.
