A SPECIAL THANK YOU TO
MELVIN SOKOLSKY

Melvin Sokolosky is an iconic photographer who spoke candidly about his decades exploring the fashion world with his beloved camera.  His love of taking pictures began early in life while growing up on the Lower East Side of New York.  Luckily for him Melvin's parents helped foster his craft.

Melvin compared photography to a musical instrument.  You need to practice everyday.  Shooting every day is better than shooting every other day.  He went on to say that everybody wants instant gratification.  He is so passionate about his art form.  We all get so hung up on the particulars of photography.  We put way too much
emphasis on which type of camera, lens and what F stop one uses.  Whatever feels best for you is Melvins mantra.

Melvin has stretched his imagination beyond what most could ever dream of conceiving.  His years shooting covers for Harpers Bazaar are extraordinary.  In the 1960's  his bubble series were like Faberge eggs.  Only his clear round eggs had the stunning beauty inside.  The numerous images this one man produced is inspiring.  What a treat to
view his works of art and have the maker give us detailed descriptions of each precious image on paper.

This legendary photographer has won numerous awards that could wallpaper a huge room.  All his words of wisdom and reminders to stay true to yourself was invaluable.  Melvin was very theatrical with all his answers to all our inquiries. I heard someone say the evening was unplugged.

Thank you Melvin and Canon for a most unforgettable evening with an unforgettable man we'll never forget.

PHOTOSHOP TIP OF THE MONTH
Changing the color of an object

Did you ever want to change the color of a shirt or pants but couldn't figure out how? This is an easy trick.

1) Open your image

2) Select a color from the swatch palette. (Alternatively, a more advanced option would be to click the foreground color and choose a color.)

3) Click on the brush tool in the tool bar. Change the Mode from "Normal" to "Color". (Mode is a drop down menu next to the Brush Size at the top in the Options Bar.)

4) Now use the brush tool to change the color of the object.
