 Dear Friend of the Press,
The other night my wife and I watched the entire Academy Awards on TV, something I haven't done since Johnny Carson was hosting (wow, I'm old!)
While watching all the technology, opulence, and self-importance revolving around a gold statuette, I turned to my wife and said, "It breaks my heart that the world seems to have all the riches and so many ministries are struggling."
She acknowledged my opinion, and then continued her running critique of designer shoes and dresses. (I have her permission to write that.)
At the Press, from the beginning we've learned to live with little. From a rented garage and a used one-color press, we've grown every year - now celebrating our 30th anniversary and our 175 millionth piece of free literature. But the secret to our success isn't revealed in mere numbers.
My good friend, Pastor Al Soto, has this tagline at the end of every email:
"Real success is helping others succeed."
Knowing Al, it's more than a cute slogan; it is the core principle of his life. It's also the essence of Foursquare Missions Press.
The Press exists to help the mission field succeed. If Foursquare held its own Oscars we might be nominated for "Best Supporting Ministry."
Everything we do, we do to support others.
Though we lack the riches of the Academy, we possess the "gold" of the Gospel message. It's our honor and privilege to give it away to the Nations.
I am so grateful to all of those who make it possible. (Sounds like an Oscar acceptance speech, but trust me I'm much more sincere.) Because without the many volunteers and supporters, the presses literally stop.
So the Oscar goes to...everyone of you who keeps us going!
