Greetings!

grapes      Heart-2-Heart:

Welcome to your monthly issue of Women In Need of Empowerment (WINE). We have finally completed our first quarter of WINE. My heart is full of joy as we enter into the second quarter with even more hope and confidence in what God has in store for His daughters.

Recently, our family endured a major transition. I am reminded of a time when the Lord spoke to Abraham instructing him to go "to a land I will show you," (Genesis 12:1, NKJV). This meant he would be leaving some people behind. Similarly, God has spoken these words to many of us.  Abraham set out on a journey to unfamiliar territory holding on to just a Word that was spoken in his heart.

This was not the only time Abraham moved out with just a Word. God later spoke telling Abraham to take that which was so precious to him and offer it as a form of worship and sacrifice to Him. Upon reaching his destination for the sacrifice, Abraham turned to those who were with him and told them to remain there while he and his precious one went up to worship. In other words, those people that were there could not go all the way with Abraham.

There are places God is taking many of us as women, as husband and wives, as leaders where we must learn to travel light. You will find that you must release some things (some people), who you may not want to release. You have a decision to make. Are you going to continue on this journey with that heavy burdensome load or will you release some of that baggage and make your journey lighter?

When you are abiding you are focused, your face is like flint, your eyes are pierced, and ears alert and sensitive to His voice. During this season, you want to surround yourself with those who are pouring in life. Anything and anyone, that is sucking life from you is a hindrance and must be released. I believe that the Lord is awakening our men and positioning us as women, but not for selfish gain alone.

Spiritual empowerment gives you the permission, the authority to become all you were created to be. Although this process may begin in the home, it extends far beyond your four walls. The blessings of the Lord did not stop with Abraham alone because God made him the father of many nations. Abraham believed and obeyed which positioned him for the blessing. We must get in position to receive our own defining moment of who we are in Him. Abiding deeply in Him is the place to be.

Start today with a fresh outlook and begin surrounding yourself with life producing resources.

Abiding in Him,

Jacqueline

Words of Wisdom: In the Cellar
From a Man's Perspective
by R. L. Owensby

Donkeys and Servants:

When God told Abraham to go to a place where He would show him to offer Isaac as a sacrifice, they did not go alone. Abraham also took two of his young men and saddled a donkey for his journey. Yet, what amazes me is when Abraham saw the place, he told the servants to stay with the donkey at the bottom of the mountain. Only he and Isaac journeyed the rest of the way. Why was this?

This was an essential move by Abraham to leave the donkey and the servants at a distance. When I consider the donkey and the servants what we have here are two extremes. Allow me to explain. Donkeys are stubborn. They move when they want and how they want, no matter what you try to do to appease them they resist. Servants are the exact opposite. They are compensated to do what they are instructed to do. They will not resist. They are "yes" people. Whatever you want, you get it. Whatever you say is right. Resistance is another word for pressure or challenge. Yet this is essential for growth. Body builders know that without resistance, they will not increase their muscles. On the other hand they understand that too much resistance may hinder.

Had Abraham taken the donkey, he may have found his ability to move into the place God wanted him to be more challenging. Therefore, he would have probably become frustrated due to the resistance of the donkey and perhaps attempted to sacrifice Isaac in the wrong spot. Furthermore, if Abraham had taken his servants, there would have been no resistance at all. He could have been completely off track and the servants would have agreed. Instead, Abraham chose to leave the servants and the donkey behind.

My Sisters look around you. Are you surrounded by others with donkey or servant spirits? That might be the reason you cannot go UP to the place where God has called you to.

Until next time ...

Empowering You: In the Vineyard
The Vineyard is the place of extended exhortation. Send your original inspiring article to WINE for review and possible use in upcoming issues.

Relationships play a critical role in our pursuit to find our niche in life. Our interactions with others can leave us refreshed or sapped of energy. When we do not clearly identify roles, we usually end up frustrated. We live in a world where we want it all now, yet we are not always willing to make the necessary investment required.

This month's extended exhortation will prayerfully encourage you to seek out and establish well-balanced relationships that extend beyond the surface to a deeper level of spiritual intimacy.
