Reach Out and Read!

The Norwalk Early Childhood Council (NECC) is seeking volunteer readers for their Reach Out and Read program at the Norwalk Community Health Center.  Reach Out and Read is a partnership between the medical profession and the community to develop early childhood literacy by giving children age 6 months to 5 years a new book at each well child visit and encouraging parents to read to their children on a daily basis.

Volunteers are currently needed to help out in the waiting room of the Norwalk Community Health Center (NCHC) to read to children waiting for their check-up.  Volunteers will read a book, talk to parents and encourage reading with their children at home, and help the child pick a book to take with them when they leave.

Volunteer times are flexible as the NCHC is open daily and has evening hours.  We ask that volunteers commit to 1-2 hours per week, speak fluent English, enjoy working with children, and most of all LOVE READING!  For more information please click here!
