Featured White Paper

Field Testing Installed Fiber

This White Paper from Fluke Networks and Ortonics/Legrand reviews best practices for the technician performing
field tests on installed optical fiber cabling.

Have you downloaded our Free Premises
Cost Model?

More than 5,000 people have used it to help them compare the first installed costs of different architectures.

You Asked

FOLS receives many questions from users about optical fiber in the enterprise. Read the answer to one of our recent questions:

Is it more expensive to install fiber cable than UTP cable?

Or, make your own calculations for your own network using our Cost Model!

Don't miss FOLS at BICSI

The Fiber Optics LAN Section is sponsoring a pre-conference seminar at the Fall BICSI Conference.

Date: Monday, September 13th
Time: 1:30-4:30 p.m.

"Fiber Trends, Architectures and Cost Modeling"

  • Herb V. Congdon II, PE, Tyco Electronics,
  • Alfred Flores, RCDD, Berk-Tek, a Nexans Company,
  • Sharon Bois, Corning Incorporated

3 CECs - RCDD, OSP, ITS Installer/Technician
In this seminar, the TIA Fiber Optics LAN Section will examine current fiber trends based on industry-recognized surveys, reports and manufacturers' data to assist in making factual recommendations. Also included is a discussion of the current standards-based architecture options and tips on how to evaluate them based on future bandwidth and trends. Finally, a cost analysis based on the newest version of the FOLS cost model will be performed.

Other sessions by FOLS Members include:
