Third Party Vendors and Tax Credits
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
A major driver of the Georgia Retraining Tax Credit is costs. These costs can include training-related offerings provided by third party vendors for such things as training class fees, consulting services, travel and living costs, and other related items. Here are a few things to look for in reviewing your clients' Retraining Tax Credit $$ potential: - Consultants: Consultants (including your firm) may be providing training development and related employee training services. This training can include LEAN transformation, quality initiatives, accounting software upgrades, and workflow changes, to name a few.
- Training companies: We are seeing many companies leverage web-based training solutions for their employee training. In addition, software vendors are using these web-based training tools more and more.
- Technical colleges: The Technical College System of Georgia provides excellent, cost effective, customized workforce training for companies. This training may be at the college or on-site at your client's location (click here).
We recently attended the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) annual conference. Two major themes that we saw at the conference was that employee training is more critical now as companies move out of the recession, and investing in training provides a tremendous return on investment (and potential Retraining Tax Credit $$).
