Welcome Back Scoop fans!
Is it us or does it feel like fall already? Although the calendar says it's summer until Sept. 22, it sure feels like fall has arrived early. While we bid adieu to summer, we're gearing up for a busy fall in the Square. Plans are underway for the Square Circle's "Fall Spectacular" on Nov. 14th as well as merchant promotions, our fall membership drive and our Annual Holiday Stroll. More details to come next issue!
From the Scoop weather desk... it looks like it's going to be a wet one tonight and much of tomorrow. Perfect time to check out the new flicks at the Community Theatre! Thanks for your continued support. See you in the Square! |

Extreme Makeover - construction of the High Street bridge over Route 1 and the surrounding
area will soon be complete, providing a more attractive and visually inviting
link to the "Greater Square" area, home to businesses such as Total Image Day Spa, Paul's Hair, Areba Skin Care, Nina's Imports, High Street Pizza, Design Associates, Charlie's Barber Shop, Sullivan Insurance, American Skin Care and Dedham Cleaners. Plans are underway for a beautiful
park and clock tower at the corner of High and Harris Streets, thanks
to our friends at Dedham Civic Pride. Stay tuned for more details!
True Colors - a trip to the Blue Bunny brings added excitement when you get to see what color hair BB super staff member Cheryl Doucette has this time! Earlier this summer, Cheryl sported a pink 'do, much to the delight of dozens of little girls, who begged their mothers for the same color locks. Shortly thereafter, Cheryl arrived to the store one day with blonde hair and blue streaks. Her creative streak doesn't end there. She is a multi-talented artist whose original paintings recently adorned the wall at the Square's own Mocha Java. When asked why she colors her hair she responds, "It's just one more thing to paint!"

Local is Better - if you haven't yet made it down to the Square on Wednesdays to check out the Dedham Farmers Market , now is a great time to make the trek. One look at the seasonal bounty of farm fresh local fruits and vegetables and you already know why local is better. MY ONE AND ONLY: Renée
Zellweger stars as a mother who leaves her husband (Kevin Bacon) and travels
down the East Coast with her children as they look for a wealthy socialite to
take care of them in this comedy based on a childhood recollection of actor
George Hamilton. Pete Hammond of Box Office Magazine writes "An exceptionally
good comedy loaded with lots of laughs, heart and wonderful performances.
Renee is at her best!"
THE HURT LOCKER: A
riveting, suspenseful portrait of the courage under fire of the military's
unrecognized heroes: the technicians of a bomb squad who volunteer to challenge
the odds and save lives doing one of the world's most dangerous jobs. Three members of the Army's elite Explosive Ordnance
Disposal search for and
disarm a wave of roadside bombs on the streets of Baghdad. This thrilling and heart-pounding look at the
psychology of bomb technicians and the effects of risk and danger on the human
psyche is a fictional tale inspired by real events by journalist and
screenwriter Mark Boal, who was embedded with a special bomb unit in Iraq.
See for yourself why film critics everywhere rave about The Hurt Locker and why
Roger Ebert gave it 4 stars. Starring Ralph Fiennes and David Morse.
