Rabbi Moshe Katz (Class of 1995) and Rabbi Zev Goldman (Class of 1995) are new headmasters at the Yeshiva Day School of Las Vegas.
Lifecycles:
Mazel Tov to Rabbi Moshe and Esti Katz (Class of 1995) on the birth of a boy.
Mazel Tov to Dovi Mermelstein (Class of 2003) on his engagement to Rifky Korngut.
Mazel Tov to Todd and Naomi Cohn (Class of 1995) on the birth of a boy.
Our Rebbe and Rosh HaYeshiva - Horav Hagaon Rav Henoch Leibowitz, zecher tzaddik l'vrocha was niftar this past week.

It is a tremendous loss to the world.  If the Rosh HaYeshiva was not a Rebbe directly to you, he was probably the Rebbe of some or all of your Rebbeim.
I know how sharply all of his talmidim feel the loss.

On a personal note, the Rosh HaYeshiva made it a point to call me from Eretz Yisroel where he was visiting this past year when I lost my mother.  That is how he felt about all the talmidim of his talmidim.

Baruch Dayan Ha-Emes.  May we merit to be able to share better new in the future.

TORAH STIMULUS

Congress recently passed a bill that would provide significant tax rebates to members of the Middle Class as part of an Economic Stimulus Package.  Checks are expected to be coming in May.  The package will pay $600 to most individual taxpayers and $1,200 to married taxpayers filing joint returns, so long as they are below income caps of $75,000 for individuals and $150,000 for couples.  There is also a $300 per child tax credit.

The government saw that a "booster shot" was necessary for the economy, and at break-neck speed developed an idea to stimulate the economy.

I walk around the building looking through the classroom windows and see talmidim

engrossed in Torah.  I see Rebbeim enthusiastically giving over teachings as they have been doing for years.  I frequently speak to former talmidim and get a clear impression that they absorbed a lot of Torah and values in their years here.  I hope to soon make available current shmuzim from WITS Rebbeim.

We are currently living in a generation with so many great organizations and causes to give to that many of us have depleted our Maaser money.  The Economic Stimulus provides us with an opportunity to Stimulate Torah.  You can use this unexpected income to continue to stimulate Torah in WITS Talmidim.  The scholarship money that alumni contribute makes a big difference in giving many the opportunity to learn Torah at WITS.

I urge you to act at the same breakneck speed that the government did in enacting this bill.  Please e-mail me at alumni@witsyeshiva.com with your commitment to Torah Stimulus.

E-mail whether you would like turn 10,18,50, or 100% of your economic stimulus into Torah Stimulus.
