The 2008 WITS Alumni Team nearly brought back the trophy, pulling to within three points in the second half. Watch the highlights. The final score was the current WITS talmidim winning 61-46. But it is hard to imagine they had a better time than the alumni. Todd Cohen(Class of 1995) still plays the same style of stifling defense, David Hartman (Class of 1994) still has hops, Ruko(Class of 1997) still needs to be fouled to be stopped, Ari Shabat(Class of 1996) is still a threat from the perimeter, Aryeh Blumenthal(Class of 1997) is still a shotmaker, Tani Schnell (Class of 1990) is a force on the court, Shua Ray(Class of 1992) is great inside, Nachy Shabat(Class of 1991) can still throw a good no-look pass, Dovid Cheplowitz(Class of 1994) is the king of team chemistry, Bitz Karan(Class of 1996) brings energy to the floor, and Benjy Israel (Class of 1998) was spectacular and Eytan Israel(Class of 2001) still has skills. Bob Giles did a masterful coaching job and Chuck remained everyone's biggest fan. And no defense could overlook Rabbi Jay Hellman(Class of 1997). Senior Yaakov Winter played tough the whole game and Frankie Snaid (Class of 2005, current Bais Medrash) was sharp to pull off a win. |
