WITS received a visit from the Rosh Yeshiva of Yeshivas Chofetz Chaim, Rav Henach Leibowitz, shlita, for the first time in almost eight years. Harav Leibowitz, who has been in charge of Yeshivas Chofetz Chaim since the 1940's, has inspired multitudes with his incredible shmuessen and love for Torah.

Rosh Hayeshiva's Visit by Avrumi Lorkis (Class of 2007)
The whole yeshiva came out to greet the Rosh Yeshiva and his rebbetzin on the thirteenth of November. The Rosh Hayeshiva was helped out of the car by Rabbi Avrohom Baruch Rauch, and promptly gave the entire yeshiva a bracha. Rabbi Rauch then led the Rosh Yeshiva on a short guided tour of the builiding which ended in the Bais Medrash, were the entire yeshiva had the zechus to daven mincha with the Rosh Yeshiva. After Mincha, the Rosh Yeshiva was led to one of the rebbeim's offices where visitors were able to greet the Rosh Yeshiva. Some of the visitors included prominent Rabbonim from Milwaukee, including the morah d'asra Harav Michel Twerski. After the Rosh Yeshiva finished visiting with people, he was led to his car by his shamash (Shimon Ishal) and Rabbi Rauch. The whole yeshiva gathered to send him off. From a personal point of view, just being able to see the Rosh Yeshiva was mechazek me greatly. I have been in WITS for almost five years, and the way the yeshiva runs is by following a mesorah set down by the Rosh Yeshiva. The rabbeim, who are talmidim of the Rosh Yeshiva, have told us how to live our lives according to his mesorah. For example, a main part of the mesorah is that a person should focus on gadlus ho'odom, the greatness of man. While it is one thing to practice these methods, it is another thing entirely to see the gadol who put in years of hard work to set it all in motion. Another part of the trip that left me in awe is the immense kavod Hatorah that the yeshiva displayed for Harav Leibowitz, shlita. At 2:30 in the afternoon, the entire yeshiva was waiting outside in their Shabbos best to greet the Rosh Yeshiva. One of my chaveirim pointed out that the Rosh Yeshiva may have gotten as much chizuk out of his visit as the yeshiva did. Twenty-eight years ago, the Rosh Yeshiva sent a few talmidim to Milwaukee to start a yeshiva, and when he returned, he found a yeshiva that runs smoothly day and night, nurturing their students into fine bnei Torah.
