This is my last Roadrunner as your editor. I've truly enjoyed my 5 or so years at the helm and leave knowing I did my best to keep the Strandwood community informed of issues and events that concern you. I still have a year left at Strandwood but feel this is the best time to allow someone else the opportunity to continue the newsletter tradition. I hope you have enjoyed some of the weekly features like Smarter Than A 5th Grader, Fact or Fiction, Parents.com, various photo puzzles, and more. In the last 6 months I have eliminated these personal touches in preparation for the transition to the new editors, Stacy Pollicino and Joscelyn Willett, on July 2nd.
Stacy and Joscelyn have some great ideas for the next generation newsletters and I look forward to reading their work every week. I will receive the email sent to roadrunner@strandwood.org until Monday, July 2nd, when it will be redirected to Joscelyn and Stacy. Remember, all Roadrunners are archived on www.strandwood.org if you need to view a previous issue.
Thank you for your wonderful support over the years, Jeff

Volunteer Opportunity
|
Do you have a knack for setting up electronics? I'm looking for a few parents that can take over the duties of setting up the PTA sound system and become familiar with the sound system in the multi-use room. Additionally, I have maintained the playground equipment for the last few years and would like to find a replacement.

| PTA Reimbursements |
|
All receipts for any PTA reimbursements should be turned in by June 30 to the PTA treasurer.

| Lost and Found Clothes

Check the racks in front of the Multi Use room for your child's clothing. All items will be donated to charity at the end of the school year.

As the warm weather approaches, we need volunteers to assist with watering the newly planted and older plants from May to October. One and a half to two hours per week is all we need. Please join us with a bit of your time to keep all our plants growing well.
The volunteer sign up has been updated with current needs so please check your calendars and choose a week to help water. Click here for the sign-up page. Contact Michael Howard at fireknight1@aol.com with any questions. |

Summer Band
|
Classes will be held every Tuesday beginning JUNE 12 with the last class meeting on AUGUST 21. The classes will be taught at Cue Productions Live, which is the beautiful theater attached to our store at 1835 Colfax Street in Downtown Concord. The class will be taught by Robin Eig, owner of Rockin' Robbie's and a credentialed instrumental music teacher.
There will be two classes each Tuesday:
2:45 - 3:45 - CONTINUING BAND (For students that have had at least one year of band or private lessons on a band instrument)
4:00 - 5:00 - BEGINNING BAND (For students who have never played a band instrument before)
This is open to all students that will be entering either 4th, 5th, or 6th grade in Fall 2012.
The cost of the class will be $10 per child/ per class. It can be done on a drop-in basis to accommodate vacation schedules.
All students must have a working instrument to play with. Rockin' Robbie's East Bay Music HAS GREAT RENTALS AND INSTRUMENTS FOR SALE. We will be happy to help you get set up. We can even help determine which would be the best instrument for your child to play.
Students from any school are invited to play in the summer band!!
