 Memorial Day 2012
memorial day

The National Moment of Remembrance asks Americans, wherever they are at 3 p.m., local time, on Memorial Day, to pause in an act of national unity for a duration of one minute. The time 3 p.m. was chosen because it is the time when most Americans are enjoying their freedoms on the national holiday.

The Moment does not replace traditional Memorial Day events; rather, it is an act of national unity in which all Americans, alone or with family and friends, honor those who died in service to the United States.

End of Year Spiritwear Sale Going On Now
The spiritwear guys have lowered all prices for a big end of the year sale. Adult tee shirts $6, Children's Tees $7, All Hoodies $15. Stop by the PTA door on Wednesday's, before and after school, or click here for the order form. Fill it in, print it and drop it off in the office with your check. Orders are usually delivered to your child's classroom within 2 days.

Quantities are limited so don't delay. If you stop by on Wednesday's you can make a decision based on what is in stock. Also ask them about some older items not on the order list like adult zippered hoodies for $20 (mainly in large).

Strandwood Walk-A-Round
walkaround1
If you were around the school last Thursday morning chances are you saw the halls filled with students. As is the tridition on the day after open house, students travel from classroom to classroom and look at the presentations left over from the night before.
The journey for some is a look at the past and where they came from and for others, a look at the future and where they are headed. What a great tradition. Ask your child to share their thoughts on what they saw.

Strandwood Gardening Committee

As the warm weather approaches, we need volunteers to assist with watering the newly planted and older plants from May to October. One and a half to two hours per week is all we need. Please join us with a bit of your time to keep all our plants growing well.

The volunteer sign up has been updated with current needs so please check your calendars and choose a week to help water. Click here for the sign-up page. Contact Michael Howard at fireknight1@aol.com with any questions.
