MARCH 26, 2012
Good Morning
Every Monday Email Club members receive important information regarding upcoming events and communications from The PTA and Strandwood staff via the Roadrunner. The Roadrunner also provides links to important flyers and new items on the PTA and school websites. Do you have any comments about this Roadrunner or suggestions for future Roadrunner articles or features?  Drop us a line at roadrunner@strandwood.org .

If you no longer wish to receive these electronic communications please use the "Safe Unsubscribe" link at the bottom of the newsletter.

This will be my last year as editor of the Strandwood publications. If you are interested in becoming the next editor please email me at roadrunner@strandwood.org. This is a great volunteer opportunity for someone that wants to help but doesn't have the time during the school day. Be the one that keeps the Strandwood community up to date with the latest news and information.

The editor publishes the Roadrunner each Monday and an Email Blast when necessary. Everything is web based with Constant Contact so there are no difficult publishing programs to learn. In addition to publishing the newsletters, the editor also maintains the Email Club list, also on Constant Contact.

I can work with the new editor anytime between now and the end of this school year. Drop me a line.

Make A Difference Day
Gardening Committee

On Sunday, April 22, 2012, Strandwood Elementary School will conduct its annual "Make a Difference Day", which is our garden clean-up and planting day. Volunteers are need to trim, weed, rake, and plant. Also this year, we will be placing Connecticut blue shale along the edges of the grass in the quad to reduce mud being tracked into classrooms.

Volunteers should meet in front of the office. One of the coordinators will direct you to one of the clean up areas. Volunteers are encouraged to bring brooms, rakes, shovels, picks, and gloves.

The work will be done between 9 am and 2 pm.  If you can spend 30 minutes or more, we can accomplish so much. Strandwood is a pretty school, and we can work together to help keep it that way. It's also a great way to celebrate Earth Day.

For more information, contact Michael Howard at fireknight1@aol.com or Annie Reed at annieroop@astound.net.

Thank you from the Gardening Committee

Peer pressure really kicks in around kindergarten, so your child may beg for things her classmates have. Teach her a valuable lesson about money by telling her she can't have everything she wants. Next time you're at the store and she sees two things she really wants, make her pick just one. Age-by-Age guide to money responsibility.
