PTA Meeting Minutes
The minutes of the March 1, 2012 General Membership Meeting are now available by clicking here. We hope to have all the previous minutes on the PTA website in a week or two.
Time Change Notes
Hopefully everyone changed their clocks ahead an hour Saturday night or Sunday morning. With the time change it is recommended that you change your smoke detector batteries.Yea, the batteries might be good for a year or more but why risk it considering that the cost is negligible (and you know that the low battery warning... warning... only comes on at 2:30 in the morning). If your house doesn't have a smoke detector in all rooms consider installing them. The latest laws also require that you install carbon monoxide device in your house. Click here for information on CO devices from Contra Costa Fire Prevention District.

Remember, while driving to school in he morning the sun will be lower in the sky and may be in your eyes. Be ready with the sun visor.

Introducing Soul Shoppe at Strandwood!
Parent's Educational Night, March 15th 6:30pm to 8:30pm
This year, Strandwood PTA has helped to fund the Soul Shoppe Program for your children. It consists of assemblies that focus on problem-solving, conflict resolution, creating a community of learning and growth and defining and internalizing the character traits that create great communities and citizens. You have probably seen the bookmarks that have come home with your child that say "Free to Be!" These were given to the students at assemblies led by Amy McClain, Licensed Soul Shoppe Facilitator and Trained Parent Educator.

She will be speaking to parents in the Library on March 15th from 6:30-8:30 to explain Soul Shoppe and guide us through this exiting program. Please come and listen so that you can support your child at home with the information they are learning at school. This is a free event and childcare is provided. We look forward to seeing you there.

Kids love chicken nuggets, but most prepackaged options leave a lot to be desired. Save money and win your family's accolades by making an easy homemade version. Start with boneless chicken breasts; pound them flat and cut into strips. Read on for the full recipe, including our yummy coating.
