 We are down to our last full week of rehearsals. After the Thanksgiving break we jump right into dress rehearsals and then showtime! Nutcracker Closet Are you still trying to pull together the costume basics for your little performer? Contact Alexandra Kemp at nutcrackercloset@strandwood.org and hopefully we can help you out. Not sure what costume pieces you need for your dance? Click here for the Performance Grid. Permission Slips Your child will not be allowed to perform if a permission slip is not turned in. Click here for the K-2 Permission Slip Packet. Please return to your child's teacher or the office ASAP. Extra copies are also available in the office. 1st Annual Gingerbread House Contest We were inspired to take it to another level after seeing all of the beautiful cakes at Fall Fest. Get creative and start designing your house because we are gearing up for the 1st Annual Strandwood Gingerbread House Contest. All houses are due no later than Friday, 12/2 @ 3pm. Only one house per family please. All houses will be displayed (and winners announced) on Saturday, December 3rd at The Nutcracker.
More Volunteers Needed
Would you like to volunteer to help with the Nutcracker, but don't have a lot of time? We have the volunteer job for you! We are looking for volunteers to help pre-sell Nutcracker DVDs. Simply arrive 40 minutes before the show of your choice to work the DVD table, or arrive a few minutes before the end of a show for after-show sales (not longer than half an hour). You are welcome to work at your child's show or another show.

| Volunteers needed in the "Land of Sweets" for the Sugar Plum Sweet Shoppe!

As the story of the Nutcracker is told.....Clara and her Nutcracker Price enter The Land of Sweets, greeted by the Sugar Plum Fairy, they are entertained by Spanish Chocolate, Chinese Tea, Russian Ribbon and Arabian dances.
We need volunteers to help with Strandwood's First Annual " Sugar Plum Sweet Shoppe" bake sale and candy shop. We are looking for adult volunteers and older student volunteers to work the sweet shoppe before and after each Nutcracker show on Saturday December 3. We also need volunteers to bring in baked goods and holiday treats. In addition to many suculent treats for sale there will be Coffee, Hot Cocoa, warm Apple Cider and Tea to help keep you warm while waiting in line for the show.
Suggested Items for the Shoppe Breakfast Breads such as pumpkin or banana Gingerbread Men Cookies Nutcracker Themed Cookies (mice, Clara, Nutcracker, Toy Soldier) Winter Themed Cookies (snowmen, holiday trees,candy canes) Holiday Decorated rice Crispy Treats Candy Canes and Ribbon Candy Almond Rocca Candy Toffee and Peppermint Bark "Chocolate Spoons" for coffee and Hot Cocoa "Marshmallow Snowmen" on a stick Be creative and have fun!
All items need to be individually wrapped and appropriately proportioned for sale, and brought to school by 3pm Friday December 2. All items will be priced at $1.00
All proceeds from the sale of these items will help to contribute to future stage and set decorations, update costumes and to help keep The Nutcracker a Strandwood tradition for years to come!
