Jump Start Day is 10 Days Away

With  With only 10 days to go Jump Start Day preparations are being finalized. Once again this year we will have an electronic version of the JSD packet. Fill the in the forms on line, print and bring them to JSD on August 26th. Click here to get the electronic packet or visit the PTA website at www.strandwood.org and look in the upper right corner of the page. As noted below, make sure you have the colored bar across the top of the first page before continuing. 

New Strandwood Parents: Jump Start Day is where you have a chance to meet other parents, learn how you can help the PTA provide Strandwood with the outstanding programs and instructional assistants, purchase your spirit wear and get your class assignments.

TROUBLESHOOTING TIPS *** The JSD packet has been tested with the latest versions of Adobe Acrobat reader with Internet Explorer and Mozilla Firefox. When you open the packet you should see a colored bar across the top of the document saying "Please print out the following form. You cannot save data typed into this form.... " 

If you do not see this bar, or have any other problems, please return to the Strandwood website and right click on "Jump Start Packet Available Here". Choose "Save Target As" or "Save Link As" and note where the file is being saved. Open the file (jumpstartday_2011.pdf) and everything should work fine. TIP #1: The PTA only has one credit card machine and the line to pay with a credit card is considerably longer than the cash/check line. If possible, pay with a check or cash to speed your checkout. Have to use a credit card? Consider TIP #2. Your PTA expenses such as Fund For Excellence, PTA Dues and Spirit Wear sales can be paid with one check. Other items like the Cafeteria Meal Card, after school programs and the pizza sales need separate payments.  

TIP #2: Don't hurry to get there in the first hour. In previous years 2/3 of the volume has been in the first hour. Lines and crowds are the worst in this hour. If you are worried about getting to the spirit wear table before anyone else we have you covered. Read the article below to see how you can get spirit wear even if you are the last one through.  

TIP #3: Fill out and print your forms on-line and have them ready to turn in when you arrive. Look for the forms that have a color code and put them on the top of your pile. Look for the colored tables that match the form color.    

With a limited summer budget we will have a smaller quantity of items for sale, mostly t-shirts and a few sweatshirts. We will be making an order within a week of school starting so don't worry if your style, size or color is out of stock when you get to the spirit wear table. We should be able to fill your order within the first three weeks of school. This should allow us to maintain a closer inventory control and reduce the amount of product waste.    

Spirit Wear Sales Volunteers Still Needed

Want to be a part of the spirit wear sales team at JSD? We could still use 3 or 4 volunteers to help sell these exciting new items from 4:00pm to 7:00pm. There are two shifts available, 3:45 to 5:30 and 5:30 to 7:00. If you can help out please contact Jeff Eide at JEideVP@gmail.com. Thank you.
