Measure S Stands For Success
| | Congratulations to the Measure S campaign committee and coordinator Dante Siracusa. Thanks to the generosity of the Strandwood community the campaign reached the minimum $4,000 requested to fund a portion of the classroom Instructional Assistants for 1st and 2nd grade next year. The PTA has requested that Mrs. Kim start the hiring process for all seven IA's as soon as school starts in August. Although the minimum was met the PTA will be happy to accept your future contributions over the summer by visiting the Strandwood PTA website by clicking here. |

Still Time to Submit Items to Memory Boxes
| |
Thank you to those who came out for the Staff Retirement Party last Wednesday! It was a big success and just shows what a wonderful community we have at Strandwood to support the staff members who have given so much to our students and families.
If you didn't get a chance to stop by, it's not too late to add any notes, mementos, or photos to the "memory boxes" for Ms. Culbertson, Mrs. Martin, Mr. Rivera, and Mrs. Tarapore. The memory boxes will be located in the office until Tuesday, June 7th.

5th Grade BBQ
| The 5th Grade BBQ went off without a hitch last Wednesday despite some unbelievably heavy rains before and after. The events were delayed by 15 or 20 minutes but the rain stopped and the sun even came out to dry the playground so they could sit and eat their lunch.
The teachers involved praised the event as the best one ever. The day included sack races, tug of war, an obstacle course, musical hula hoops, the magic carpet ride and of course the barbeque.
None of it would have happened without Ellen Javete, organizer extraordinaire. Thank you Ellen and all the parent volunteers that made this a day to remember. Thanks to Tim Tuey for the photos.
