Milk Carton Creation

For a fun way to celebrate upcoming Earth Day, turn a half-gallon milk carton into a bird feeder! Gather supplies, then cut out a door, paint the outside, and glue on sticks for the roof. Add a few finishing touches and some birdseed, then set it outside and watch the birds flock!

Mt. Diablo USD News Update

Where Kids come First - April 14, 2011

At the Tuesday Board meeting the Board approved the tentative agreement with MDEA our teachers' Association and CSEA who represents our classroom assistants.  I appreciate the members of these associations along with our administrators and supervisors accepting salary and benefit reductions to help us address the current State budget crisis.  Based on these agreements we will be instituting furlough days on Friday, May 6th; Friday, May 27th; and Tuesday, May 31st.  Even though schools will be closed on these days, the Advance Placement testing scheduled on Friday, May 6th at Willow Creek will take place.  If your school scheduled a field trip for one of these days, please check with your site principal to determine if the field trip will still happen.

The State budget crisis continues to worsen and we were very disappointed that the Legislature did not pass a budget in March that included extensions of the current revenue enhancements.  This lack of leadership may lead to even deeper cuts to programs and personnel.  Sacramento continues to place our children's future in jeopardy.  I encourage everyone to contact your local State representatives and let them know that our children's education must take priority over partisan politics.  Our future, our children, cannot afford any more reductions to their educational opportunities.  Again, my thanks to all of our employees and parents who have made sacrifices for our children.
