Time to Start Thinking About the Strandwood Dinner Dance Auction

Auction Logo 2011 The countdown has begun and we are only 3 months away!!!!

The Dinner Dance and Auction committee is hard at work to bring you another successful and fun event. We are so excited to introduce new families to our annual tradition and give them a warm welcome as we open the doors on April 9th!! We have reached out to over 600 businesses and have begun to collect a great variety of donation items, but we are always looking for more. If you have a business in mind that may be willing to donate their services or items, please contact Cindy Cindy TurnerTurner. There are donation letters and forms available on www.strandwood.org in the auction section, or in the school office. It is very easy to print some up and have them on hand when the opportunity arises. Please let Katherine Bracken know if you have acquired a donation.

We are also organizing the sign-up parties, which are always a big hit, as well as big money maker! Contact Martha Alexander or Melaine Huth with your idea or if you need one! Class projects are underway and look great so far. These items will be available exclusively on-line. So when the auction goes live on March 7th, make sure you check them out. The kids are always excited and proud of what they contribute to the auction !

FAME for February

FAME is a six-year cycle of fine arts lessons that focus on one artist and one composer for six lessons throughout the school year. Because no lesson is repeated throughout the six years, students never get the same FAME lesson twice. This is FAME III out of VI.FAME3Week4

This is FAME's fifteenth year at Strandwood! We are thrilled to have enjoyed strong administration, staff, PTA and parent support throughout that time.

FAME takes place on Tuesdays throughout the month. If you're interested in observing, please contact your child's teacher for their schedule. Parent visitors are always welcome. Links of the Artists and Musicians take you to their wikipedia page were you can find out more information about them. Images or sound files of the art and music will be linked if available.

Our FAME lessons are taught by a wonderful team of enthusiastic parent volunteers (referred to as docents). Our docents attend pre-lesson meetings to review and prepare for the art and music portions and the accompanying art lesson.

Coordinators: Kendra Phair & Laurie Wozniak

Art: "Blue Boy" by Thomas Gainsborough

Music: "Sonata in C Major" by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
