Winter Break
Starting tomorrow afternoon we start the winter break. Have a great holiday season and we will see everyone back on January 3rd.
Strandwood Students Have Reflections Program Success
The Mt. Diablo Councils of PTAs received 179 PTA Reflections Program entries. The Council submitted 16 entries out of the 24 categories and 5 of 16 entries are from Strandwood Elementary!

Winners were forwarded to the 32nd District Level Competition and will receive recognition from the Council as well as the District.

Strandwood Students Also Successful in FPHE Spelling Bee
Last Saturday was the Foundation for Pleasant hill Education's Annual Spelling Bee. As in the past, Strandwood students fared very well in the competition. Congratulations to the following students.

Nutcracker DVD Sale
Friday is the last day to get your Nutcracker DVD orders in for the discounted price of $15 for one or $25 for two. Order forms are in the office.
Read and Dream Reminder
Just a reminder that due to the Winter Break, reading logs will be due the Monday we return from vacation, January 3rd.  Please remember to take your reading logs home over the two weeks vacation and write down your minutes.  Awards will be given out on Friday, January, 7th, to those students who have read their grade level minutes.
After School Chess Sign-ups
The Winter session will be held from January 5 through March 9 (ten weeks) on Wednesdays from 12:35 to 1:35.  Grades K-5  are welcome (but not late K friends due to the time, sorry) **Note the class starts right after we return from Winter Break.

To register, go online to www.berkeleychessschool.org and choose the link on the left to "sign up for a class". The fee for ten weeks is $120 for the first child, and siblings are half price. However, the first parent to volunteer to assist the chess class by remaining in the room during the class will receive free chess for their child this session. No chess experience necessary!  Parent volunteers are required to have fingerprinting and a TB record on file at the school.
