A Message From The PTA President
Last week I attended a special Board of Education meeting for parents to comment and make suggestions about potential budget cuts.  As you can imagine it was quite disconcerting but also quite uplifting.  It was great to see many parents willing to jump in and do what they can to help as so many of you do for Strandwood.  It was also encouraging that most people we were willing to march to Sacramento to express their concern at continuing cuts to education.  This article is not meant to be political but watching the cuts mounting from a distressed state budget is getting untenable.

Strandwood is so fortunate to have such an active parent group.  Every time I sit in one of these meetings I appreciate the tremendous support more and more.  One story I have to tell happened just after the holidays.   An envelope was in the PTA basket in the office.  It was from one of our first grade students.  Inside was a note from this student saying that she had drawn pictures of people to raise money for the school.   Enclosed were six, one dollar bills.  What a thoughtful girl.

I am not asking for more support or more effort as you have all done so much.  However, please stay involved and speak up about your thoughts and suggestions.  Out of crisis like this many great ideas surface,  petty differences dissipate and communities grow stronger.
