Head Lice Prevention
According to HeadLice.org September is Head Lice Prevention Month.

The Strandwood PTA recommends all parents check their children frequently for signs of head lice. An itchy scalp is the most obvious symptom, so don't just dismiss it as dry scalp. For information on the prevention and control of head lice check out the Center for Disease Control or the website of
HeadLice.org.

Head lice can hitch a ride on anyone, no matter how clean their home or their person. Quick treatment when lice are discovered can rid them very effectively.

Occasionally, there are incidents of head lice at school. If your child is in a class in which a student has been found to have lice, you will receive an "Exposure to Head Lice" letter.

Final Parent and Community Input Meeting
From the Mt. Diablo Unified School District

Help Us in the Search for the Right Superintendent to Lead this District

Your Input is Essential and Valuable
Final Parent and Community input meeting is Sept 23, 2009.

With the search now underway for a new superintendent to lead the district beginning in early 2010, we want your input now on who you think would be the best candidate for the job.The choice of a new Superintendent for our school district is one of the most powerful and exciting decisions that will be made regarding the education of the children in this school district. A superintendent influences the culture of a district with respect to vision, innovation, reform, transparency, communication, and leadership at all levels. In order to conduct a high quality search, we have hired the firm Leadership Associates to assist us in this critical endeavor.

We know that as parents and major stakeholders in our educational community, it's important to you to be part of this decision-making process. The consultants with Leadership Associates will be hosting an informal community discussion specifically to gather input from our parent community regarding the skills and abilities desired in the new superintendent and your thoughts on where this district has been and where it should be going. Our hope is that participation extends throughout our district and that all families take this important opportunity to help shape the future of quality education in our communities.
